It’s only a car. February 22, 2010

UPDATE:  When we felt like all hope was lost, our stolen car has been found!  Over in a neighborhood on Peak 7 (which means nothing to you non-Breck folk, i’m sure), halfway buried in a snowbank, was our very own Prius!  Granted, the front bumper is smashed in, the rearview mirror ripped off the windshield, the computer screen shattered, some keys and a car seat are missing and with a few cigarette ashes & tobacco sprinkled here and there, but our prodigal car has returned!  Yay!  We are relieved for sure.  Now, to get the insurance adjuster to come examine it, tow it to the dealership in Denver, fix all the boo boos and drive down there to pick it up again, hopefully as good as new… life should return to nearly normal!  Sure beats the hassle of trying to decide what vehicle to replace it with.

We woke up yesterday morning to a big empty spot on the parking pad behind our house where our car should be.  Our mint green 2007 Toyota Prius — the only car we have EVER bought new from the dealership is gone.  Stolen, apparently, and certainly not “recovered” yet…  Fortunately, there wasn’t much in it that can’t be replaced.  We bought that car when Lincoln was a newborn and have never had a problem with it.  It was by far our favorite car.  I guess we’ll see what happens, but I know that I’m not getting my hopes up that we’ll ever see it again…

in summer...

in winter...

Learning to let go…

We feel for you. Someone stole our van from our driveway within a month of moving into our new house last January. The police did find it about a week later about 10 miles away without any damage, really. Even though it was a ’95 Dodge Caravan with lots of rust, etc…it is quite unnerving. Hopefully yours will be found soon without any other strings attached.

Oh no! I know that feels so violating, and so frustrating. I’m so sorry.
