it’s amazing how much the shoreline of the ocean can change in matter of days. the first couple days that we were at the beach, the waves and tide were rough and powerful, and there was a good two-foot ledge of sand along the shore. then the waves calmed down for a few days and the water smoothed out the sandy ridge, making it nice and shallow at the water’s edge. by the end of the week, the waves returned somewhat and pulled out a fun sand bar a few feet out into the water. the water’s temperature was in the 80s, we think, and it was perfect for our boys. each of them grew more and more comfortable in the water and braved the waves to greater depths by the end of the week. it was a lot of fun to watch.
